As homeowners see house prices rising and rising they are more frequently deciding not to move but to improve.

Some lavish, some large, some in various shapes and sizes but the decision to add space to an existing property by extending is becoming more and more popular.

New London Architecture has recently announced a short list for the Don't Move, Improve Awards for the best extension, a sample of which can be seen below.

Homeowners are taking notes from other extensions and grand design type TV programmes along with the spaces' requirements and their imagination and are adding some truly wonderful, useful, unusual spaces to their existing homes.
