Finance
getting a self build mortgage is another aspect of the build. These normally consist of stage payment, each time a stage is completed and approved by the lender they will release another chunk of money for the build to use to continue. 

Once complete a competitive mortgage should be researched for the reminder of the monies to be paid.

Claim back you VAT
As a self builder you need to save every single receipt with tax added and keep them all together in a very safe place. Once the build is complete the VAT paid along the way can be claimed back, but this can only be done once and within three months of the build completing, ensure you claim every penny you can on your first and final claim.
